Screening
A speech language screening is usually a quick informal assessment of speech, language, and/or social skills. The SLP may use a variety of methods including conversation, observation, criterion-referenced measures, and/or parent checklists. The primary objective of a screening is to identify potential speech and language disorders or difficulties early on, allowing for timely intervention and support. A screening helps the speech language pathologist determine if a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation is recommended. If no significant issues are detected, the SLP may provide recommendations for fostering healthy communication development or offer strategies to address minor communication challenges.
Speech and Language Therapy
We provide Individual therapy services to address the various needs of children ages 3 – 18+. Sessions are scheduled for 30-60 minutes depending on the needs and abilities of the child. We provide services in our Kierland office as well as teletherapy and in-home or daycare/preschool/school therapy (for an additional itinerant fee). Evaluation
We conduct thorough speech-language evaluations aimed at understanding your child’s individual strengths and challenges and need for services. Our comprehensive assessments include a review of relevant developmental, medical, and educational history as well as any prior evaluations and services. Our Speech-Language Pathologist will select suitable assessments based on the initial consultation/screening and any concerns raised. These assessments may include standardized tests, informal evaluations, parent rating scales, and observational analyses.
Following the evaluation, a comprehensive discussion of the results and an interpretation is completed with parents or guardians. Additionally, a written report that summarizes the results and recommendations is provided which may then be shared any other pertinent professionals engaged in the child’s development.
Free Consultation
Does your child have difficulty communicating effectively with others? Are they difficult to understand? Contact our office to schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation with a licensed and certified Speech-Language Pathologist. During this consultation, the Speech-Language Pathologist will address any concerns you have and offer insights into the objectives and benefits of speech therapy for your child if needed.
Education & Training
We provide education to families, school staff, and other professionals who want to learn more about speech and language development, therapy techniques, and assessment procedures. Training and workshops are uniquely tailored to help parents and professionals learn more about communication topics for speech sound disorders, school-based evaluation, and IEP writing/meetings, etc.
